Kohat is an important city of KPK province, which has the ISSB selection center of Pakistan Army and it has the traditional culture of Pashton people. There are many leading educational institutes like PAF Fazaia Inter College, Iqra Public Secondary School and College, Garrison Cadet College Kohat, and many other educational institutes, which are working in the city to provide higher standard of education to the students.

Board of intermediate and Secondary Education Kohat was established with the aim to provide higher standard of education to the students of FA/FSc and matric class and helps in maintaining the education standard at SSC and HSSC levels in the schools and colleges being located in the city. BISE Kohat receives the admission forms from the candidates and starts admission process for 9th and 10th classes in the educational institutes of the city. The students can send their admission forms and appear in the annual exams of matric part 1 and 2, which is started in the month of March. The annual exams of 11th and 12th classes are started in April.

Kohat University of Science and Technology is providing higher standard of education to the students in science and technology. The candidates can complete their education in the science and technology field so that the students can get admission and start their education to complete their higher education. There are different disciplines, which are introduced in this university at the master degree and doctoral levels.
